【摘要】:Thistestmethodisusefultotheadhesivemanufacturerinresearchanddevelopmentorinmanufacturingcontrol.Theresultsarealsousedforspecificationacceptanceorasaguideinadhesiveselection.Theprovisionsfortestingbondedspecimensaswellasfreefilmsaremadefortwopurposes.First,itispossibleforaninteractiontooccurbetweenoxygenandchemicalsordegradationproductsthatmayaffectthedegradationofthebondedjointsstrength.Second,someincreaseinstrengthduetooxidativecrosslinkingmaynotbedetrimentalinabondedassemblyandinfactmaybebeneficial.Adhesivesofthisbehaviorarenotsatisfactorilytestedbyafilmflexibilitytest.Someusersofthistestmethodwillbemostinterestedintheperformanceofthebondedjoint;somewillbemostinterestedintheperformanceoftheadhesive.Inthelattercase,itisimportanttonotethatthetruevariance(errormeansquare)ofthestrengthoftheadhesivemaybeobscuredwhenthetestedcontrolspecimensorthetestedagedspecimensshowwoodfailure.ConflictofProcedure8212;Iftheproceduresofthistestmethodconflictwiththoseofdetailedproductspecificationsormanufacturerrsquo;useinstructionsforaparticularmaterial,thenusethelatter.1.1Thistestmethoddescribeshowtoestimatetherelativeresistancetodeteriorationofadhesivefilmsandadhesive-bondedjointsplacedinahigh-pressureoxygenenvironment.Theinstructionsincludebothwood-to-woodandwood-to-metaljointsaswellasfreefilmofadhesive.Theeffectsofchemicalssuchasfireretardants,preservatives,orwoodextractives,canbeevaluatedbyusingmaterialscontainingthesechemicalsforadherends.1.2Thistestmethodisprimarilyintendedforelastomer-basedconstructionadhesives,butisalsoapplicabletoothertypesofadhesivesthatmaybesusceptibletooxygendegradation.Thisacceleratedtestdoesnotcorrelateexactlywiththenaturalagingoftheadhesivebecauseofthevariedconditionsofnaturalagingandtheabsenceoffactorssuchasmoistureandstress.Theresultsofthisacceleratedtestareonlycomparativeandmustbeevaluatedagainsttheperformanceofbondedjointswhosenaturalandacceleratedagingcharacteristicsareknown.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
